If you would like to join us, we are looking for a Director of Mobile Engineering that will lead expansion of our platform into mobile. You’ll use your experience to build a high quality and scalable foundation designed for rapid experimentation and delightful user experiences. You will build a team of experienced passionate mobile developers hyper-focused on creating impactful business outcomes. This is a high-impact role that requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution.


About You:


You are a hands-on technical leader with deep experience building and scaling mobile applications from 0 to 1. You have a strong background in both cross-platform and native mobile development, with expertise in Flutter as well as native iOS and Android. You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and excel at balancing speed to market with scalability and long-term technical vision. You have experience leading mobile engineering teams, collaborating with agencies, and making key architectural decisions that lay a strong foundation for future growth. You are passionate about delivering a seamless, high-quality mobile user experience and know how to integrate mobile best practices into an organization’s broader technology strategy. You are excited about advances in AI and how it can be applied to enable a more efficient path to production.


About the Role:

As the Director of Mobile, you will be responsible for leading our mobile engineering efforts as we build and launch our first mobile application for iOS and Android. You will work closely with an agency partner, product teams, and company leadership to drive mobile strategy, execution, and team growth. You will be hands-on in development while also providing technical leadership, setting best practices, and ensuring we build a scalable, maintainable, and performant mobile experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Mobile Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the company’s first mobile strategy, aligning with business and product goals.
  • Strategically balance capacity across agency partners, contractors and full-time staff to ensure a strong foundation for mobile development and efficient outcomes.
  • Provide thought leadership on mobile industry, technologies, architecture, and best practices.
  • Ensure a confident interoperability strategy between Flutter and native mobile components.
  • Own technical decisions across multiple teams, aligning architectural choices with company objectives and long-term strategy.
  • Influence technical direction by identifying opportunities to integrate AI into development processes, driving efficiency and fostering innovation across engineering teams.
  • Instill a mindset centered on ownership of outcomes and a relentless focus on velocity metrics and continuous improvement.

Technical Execution & Development

  • Lead hands-on development efforts, contributing to Flutter-based mobile applications.
  • Ensure an efficient and scalable project structure, including state management, dependency injection, and network caching strategies.
  • Champion simple and elegant thin client architecture and the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Lead the team within ambitious timelines, while balancing technical debt and long-term performance.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and app store releases (internal/private and public) with a focus on an exceptional developer experience.
  • Establish a robust framework for feature flagging, A/B testing, and server-side app controls (e.g., LaunchDarkly).
  • Build a strategy (test harness) for rapid internal proof-of-concept testing and feature validation.
  • Ensure seamless integration with back-end services, APIs, and a headless CMS (Contentful).
