The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $137,322 - $200,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Lead and further develop a global department for technical after-sales documentation for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in line with product roadmaps and growth strategy. Responsibility for the timely delivery and legal compliance for all service- and commissioning-related documentation of the global product portfolio (e.g. user manuals, service technician manuals, troubleshooting guides, commissioning documentation). Responsibility for global documentation strategy and roadmap. Establish global standards for project-specific and standard service documentation, as well as for the different target groups (end customer, service technician, commissioning engineer). Define and implement adequate processes for the creation and release of documentation. Support product engineering across regions (EMEA, NA, China, Australia) to establish information preservation processes as part of regional product development efforts. Define and implement strategies for maintaining and updating technical documentation in all relevant media (life-cycle management). Implement global tools for knowledge sharing and preservation. Set up and manage technical writing software and connected translation processes. Define and implement a strategy on documentation formats (files, learning tools/app, multi-media content, other digital media). Ensure fast and efficient information flow toward the KION Operating Units. Cooperate with all global interface departments (e.g. Service Training, Product Training, R&D, Safety) both on the departmental level and with the Operating Units. Manage external agencies, develop external agency network. Manage budgets and forecasts for documentation budget globally for all Ous. Responsible for a global documentation team, with 9 full-time employees. Lead standardization of content of deliverables, working tools & processes for automation portfolio. Lead to set up seamless information flow for automation from development teams to end-customers (and back).

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Administration, Technical Writing, Literature, Psychology, Project Management or related field and 4 years’ experience as Project Manager, Technical Documentation Manager, Technical Writer, Operations Manager or closely related occupation in the mobile automation industry (AGVs or related automation industries). Also requires at least 2 years’ experience with technical service documentation (user manuals, service technician manuals, troubleshooting guides etc.) including hardware and software documentation; technical writing software; setting up documentation tools and learning/knowledge sharing platforms; creating multi-media content and e-learning; working with international matrix organizations; European AGVs (tuggers, counter-balances, and very narrow aisle vehicles inclusive of respective software) and onboard and offboard software; safety standards (ANSI and Machine Directive) and quality (ISO for external customer needs and internal documentation to ensure adherence to safety best standards around AGVs; leading a technical documentation department; setting up and leading a global or cross-cultural team; working in a global environment; and working with external agencies. 20% travel required to various unanticipated locations.
