As a Senior Research Scientist you will play a key role in shaping the future of formulation development by leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies and driving the adoption of data-driven practices. You will collaborate closely with our lab teams in RTP and engage with a global network of experts, ensuring innovative solutions that enhance our formulation processes and meet the high demands in farming—the biggest job on Earth.

As a Senior Research Scientist - Digital Formulations, you create chemistry by...

• Providing hands-on digital support for R&D projects, including designing of experiments, analyzing data, and visualizing data.
• Supporting the development and adoption of machine learning models and artificial intelligence tools.
• Driving the organization’s transition to a digitalized and data-driven development process by supporting laboratories in their digitalization journey and rolling out new systems.
• Developing and implementing training programs to educate employees on data management best practices and fostering a data-driven culture.
• Aligning data management and laboratory requirements with key stakeholders and ongoing IT projects to ensure effective implementation and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Monitoring academic and industrial trends in digitalization for formulations and evaluating potential collaboration partners.
• Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the adoption of data solutions and operational efficiency in daily lab operations.

If you have...

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Natural Science, or Computer Science or other related field of study with 2+ years of industry experience or a Masters with 6+ years of industry experience.
• Strongly preferred industrial experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical industries.
• Experience in R&D environments with a demonstrated ability to analyze data and make informed decisions, contributing to product development success.
• Proficiency in statistics, particularly in design of experiments, with a proven track record in R&D projects.
• Knowledge of data management in an R&D context (e.g., electronic lab notebooks, laboratory information systems).
• Experience with data-driven product development and familiarity with artificial intelligence is preferred.
• Knowledge of physical chemical principles related to formulation science is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at various organizational levels and a commitment to collaboration and continuous skill development within the organization.
• Ability to travel up to 10%, domestically and internationally
