About the role

Description

Reporting to the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program Director/Coordinator and/or surgeons, the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Dietitian provides nutrition guidance and counseling to metabolic and bariatric surgery patients through development, implementation, and monitoring of dietary recommendations pertaining to weight loss surgery. Provision of clinical nutrition care requires knowledge of the principles of weight loss surgery and the ability to analyze data, assess nutrition status and formulate nutrition care plans. 

This is an "As Needed/Registry " position 


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1.  Screening and Assessment of patients based on medical record data and interview with the patient. 
  2.  Nutrition Counseling—Recommends appropriate nutrition intervention to the patient.
  3.  Education—Educates patient based on cultural, religious and ethnic preferences.  
  4.  Performance Improvement—Identifies issues, collects, evaluates and reports data as assigned.  
  5.  Communication—Participates in metabolic and bariatric surgery team rounds/meetings and committees. 
  6.  Documentation—Documents desired outcomes specific to the individual patient.
  7.  Professional development—Maintains CPEU’s as required by the American Nutrition Association.

Education and/or Experience   

  • Must have minum of 1 year of Healthcare  Dietician experince.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition or Nutrition related.
  • Current Illinois license and must possess current registration as a Registered Dietitian.
