Position Specific Description

The NERC O&P Program Manager is responsible for the overall health, execution, and continuous improvement of the Power Generation Division’s compliance programs associated with NERC Operations and Planning Reliability Standards. This role serves as the program owner for assigned O&P standards and provides technical and managerial oversight to ensure sustained compliance across a diverse generation fleet.

 

The ideal candidate brings a strong electrical engineering foundation, with direct experience in substation design, protection & control, generator interconnection, and power system modeling, combined with proven leadership in managing NERC compliance programs. This position partners closely with fleet electrical engineers, controls engineers, compliance, engineering & construction, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure audit ready, repeatable, and defensible compliance outcomes.

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Program Ownership & Governance

  • Serve as Program Manager and process, accountable for end to end program health and execution

 

Technical Oversight & Engineering Leadership

  • Act as a technical liaison between NERC requirements and practical engineering execution across wind, solar, storage, and thermal facilities.

 

Cross Functional Coordination

  • Direct and coordinate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) 
  • Partner with Engineering & Construction (E&C), Year One/ROI teams, and operations to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Interface with Compliance & Ethics (C&E) team on interpretations, potential non compliances, self reports, and mitigation plans.

 

Work Management, Metrics & Reporting

  • Lead compliance execution through Maximo, including preventive maintenance strategies, service requests, work orders, and evidence tracking
  • Monitor and report program health using dashboards and lead indicators 
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and audit ready documentation and evidence repositories.

 

 

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in power generation, transmission, or utility environments with direct involvement in NERC O&P compliance.
  • Demonstrated technical experience with substations, protection & control systems, generator interconnection, and power system modeling.
  • Strong understanding of NERC compliance evidence, audit expectations, and regulatory engagement.

 

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience managing or supporting NERC Reliability Standards (PRC, MOD, FAC, EOP, or similar).
  • Experience serving as Program Manager or Process Owner for NERC compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with renewable generation fleets (wind, solar, storage) and hybrid resource configurations.
  • Experience with Maximo, PowerBI, or similar enterprise work and reporting systems.
