Job Summary
SummaryResponsible for providing comprehensive dental care and promoting oral health to patients with the primary objective being to assess and maintain the oral health of patients, educate them about proper oral hygiene practices, and contribute to their overall well-being.

Essential Functions
-Perform comprehensive oral health assessments, including reviewing medical and dental histories, evaluating dental conditions, and screening for oral diseases, such as gum disease and oral cancer.
-Perform professional dental cleanings (prophylaxis) to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth.
-Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and interpret images to assess dental and bone health.
-Perform periodontal assessments to evaluate the health of the gums and surrounding tissues.
-Educate patients about oral health conditions, dental treatments, and prevention strategies.
-Accurately document dental assessments, treatment plans, and procedures in patient records.
-Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including proper sterilization and disinfection of dental instruments and equipment.

Associate's Degree Dental Hygiene required

Licenses and Credentials
Dental Hygienist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
Experience
Dental Hygiene Experience 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of oral anatomy, dental diseases, and treatment modalities.
- Proficiency in dental radiography techniques and interpretation.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to educate and counsel patients on oral health.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dental team in a hospital setting.
