About the role

AWACS/707 Field Service Rep - Defense EXPERIENCED – Japan

Company:

Boeing Aerospace Operations

Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an Experienced Field Service Representative (FSR) to provide technical support the Japan E-767 program at Hamamatsu, Japan.

This position is primarily focused on mission avionics and software. Prior operational and hands-on avionics and software experience with E-767, E-3 AWACS, or other AEWC platforms is required to be qualified for this role. The radar system falls outside the responsibilities of this position.

In this role you'll act as an FSR supporting the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) with direct, “over the shoulder”, technical support to enable JASDF the capability to launch and recover Japan AWACS E-767 missions. This involves conducting On-the-Job Training (OJT) and resolving aircraft mission system, ground system, and support equipment issues.

FSRs are the in-person, Boeing "face" to the customer, so personal appearance (grooming and dress), a helpful and friendly demeanor, and the ability to speak and write in a professional, unambiguous manner while working unsupervised for extended periods of time are paramount.

Working hours will nominally be 5-days a week (M-F), 8-hours per day. Additionally, FSRs must be willing to work flexible hours (i.e. on-call 24 hours per day, and 7 days per week) as the job requires. At the sole discretion of leadership, an FSR must be willing and able (on potentially short-notice) to deploy/travel to a variety of locations (domestic and international) and for a variety of deployment durations to meet customer needs and the statement of work. Unless compelling reasons exist, failure to deploy/travel will be considered as a resignation.

This is a Long-Term Assignment to Japan for up to 3 years. Relocation/assignment benefits to the international location will be provided. Offers will be contingent upon the candidate’s ability to obtain clearances from International Health Services and the receipt of a visa/work permit for Japan. This also applies to any/all family members who may be relocating with the candidate.

You are applying for a Field Operations position where our employees must be willing and able (potentially short notice) to travel to a variety of locations (domestic and/or international) to meet the needs of our customers.

Field Operations employees may be required to relocate to another Field Operations location based on customer needs and/or management requirements.

Specific contracts supported by Field Operations could require employees to perform a deployment to a US DOD contingency operation. Employees associated with these specific contracts must be able to pass military contractor health standards for deployment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical guidance in the normal operation and maintenance of E-767 aircraft mission systems, ground systems, and support equipment
  • Supporting on-aircraft mission system hardware and software troubleshooting/reloads, as requested
  • Supplementing local training by providing technical guidance and informal OJT for aircraft mission and ground station operations and maintenance personnel
  • Investigating technical issues and analyzing hardware and software to determine root cause
  • Coordinating with off-site engineering to address technical issues beyond the capability or available resources of the on-site Field Service team
  • Coordinating issue resolutions, to include writing Discrepancy Reports
  • Providing comments on suggested customer changes to technical manual procedures
  • Supporting field-level modifications to E-767 systems
  • Assisting JASDF with writing technical inquiries and ensuring responses (when received) are understood

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Hamamatsu Air Base, Japan.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in E-767 or E-3G operations (ST/CDMT/CT/ECO), computer maintenance, and/or ground systems System Administration.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings
  • 3+ years of experience understanding and using wiring schematics
  • 1+ years of experience teaching peers in a non-classroom setting
  • Current U.S. passport (with an expiration date past December 2025)
  • Physically able to climb ladders and stairs and to crawl in aircraft bellies or under data center raised floors.
  • At the sole discretion of leadership, must be willing and able (on potentially short notice) to deploy/travel to a variety of locations (domestic
