CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
4. This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
5. As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
6. Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• A High School Diploma AND
• Two (2) years of experience in Groundskeeping, Property Maintenance, or related field. 
• Must have minimum of One (1) year of Supervisory experience in Groundskeeping, Property Maintenance, or related field OR One (1) year of experience supervising inmates. 
• Must possess valid Florida Driver's License.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Directs inmates in the proper use and operation of mechanical equipment such as compactors, various loaders, and hand tools. Directs inmates to ensure the best use of available time and resources to complete tasks. Collects recycle materials throughout post, separates materials and bales, bundles, or bands materials to ready them for transport. Transports recycle materials off post to vendors. Maintains accountability for materials collected and any revenue generated from the sale of such materials. In the absence of Inmates, this position will perform all duties and responsibilities listed herein.
• Provides transportation of FDC inmates to and from CBJTC. Supervises inmates in the maintaining of lawns, roadways, trees, and shrubbery using tractors, mowers, power tools and hand tools. Supervises inmates in the trimming of trees and shrubs, and removal dirt, rubbish, leaves, and all other refuse from grounds. Maintains accurate inventory and condition of all tools and equipment utilized by FDC inmates. Ensures that tools with cutting edges are sharp, clean, and ready to use. Ensures that inmates follow safety requirements, such as hazardous material handling requirements, vision and hearing protection requirements, and sanitary practices.
• Assists in maintaining environmental compliance for the DPW Grounds Maintenance Section.
