Clinical Research Coordinator I, MA Registered

The Emergency Department (ED) research team is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I to support our work. We are growing our dynamic team who support a variety of clinical trials and epidemiological surveillance research conducted in the fast-paced Emergency Department. Our work is clinically focused, and members of the research team work in person in the Emergency Department alongside clinical providers. Our Principal Investigators (PIs) conduct studies in partnership with two multicenter research networks: the CDC-sponsored New Vaccine Surveillance Network and the HRSA-sponsored Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN).

Training and support to obtain a MA-Registered credential will be provided after hire. A MA-Registered credential is not required at the time of hire.

The primary responsibility of the ED Clinical Research Coordinator I is to conduct real time screening, enrollment, and collect prospective data from eligible patients during their ED visit. Other responsibilities include maintaining regulatory documents and IRB correspondence; research specimen collection and management (e.g., nasal swabs, stool, blood); database creation, maintenance, review and oversight; and working with the PI to ensure that research projects are conducted in compliance with federal regulations, institutional policies/departmental guidelines, and standards of Good Clinical Practice.

The ED Research Clinical Research Coordinator I will be expected to work four 10-hour shifts per week from 1pm-11pm, including one weekend shift per week. A shift differential is provided during evening and weekend hours.

Strong candidates will have a proactive mindset, enthusiasm for collaboration and navigating fast-paced clinical environments and will be able to successfully approach and recruit families while remaining mindful of ED patient flow and sensitive situations. Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in research or a related field/setting. To obtain licensure as a Medical Assistant Registered within 60 days of employment. Bilingual skills may be required for certain positions.

Required Credentials
Current Medical Assistant – Registered designation by Washington Department of Health (DOH) within 60 days of employment. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) within 60 days of employment.

Preferred
Pediatric research experience. Current Medical Assistant experience in Pediatrics, Urgent Care experience and/or Medical screening and immunization.

Compensation Range

$29.16 - $43.73 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
