About the role

Job Summary: Responsible for providing executive leadership for Patient Care Services assuring the provision of quality, productive, cost-effective care for Patient Care Services clinical and business operations.  Serves as exemplar and role model for fundamental leadership principles, marketing, innovation, change management, and communication.  Accepts leadership duties from CNE, CMO, CAO, and ACNO,VP.  Responsible for budgeting, resource utilization and human resource management functions of assigned areas 24/7.  Responsible for development and alignment of the strategic plan for Patient Care Services in conjunction with CNE, CMO, CAO, and ACNO, VP and participates in strategic development activities for Service Lines and for organization.  Collaborates and consults with executives, team members, department heads and physician leaders to develop and execute strategic plan for Nursing and Patient Care Services.  Assures all actions are consistent with the Mission of organization, its Vision, and Values.  Interacts with governing board members as required.

  • In conjunction with Financial Services and Human Resources, is responsible for ensuring the appropriate mix and allocation of resources, including supplies, staffing, and equipment for areas of responsibility.  Responsible for establishing and monitoring the budget for the service line.  Works closely with physician colleagues and physician champions for the Service Line and other areas of responsibility.  to review new technologies for opportunities and risks.
  • Establishes collegial working relationships with key physician stakeholders to grow targeted services and maintain or improve market share.  Maintains relationships to monitor established metrics per specialty area within Patient Care Services .  Meets regularly with   Medical Director   and other established medical leaders for specialty areas to review technology, standardize equipment and supplies, and plan for future development.  
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and coordination of performance improvement activities which enhance service delivery, clinical practices, and ensures regulatory requirements are met and positive outcomes, based on national benchmarks, are attained. 
  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, hiring ,orientation, education,  disciplining, promotion, and retention of personnel within HR guidelines and for overseeing supervised leadership in these tasks.  Mentors Directors and other nurse leaders in the evaluation process and in the use of technology and software to assist with personnel management. for time and attendance management.  
  • Mentors and role models’ leadership behaviors to direct reports to insure successful planning for the future.  Engages staff in leadership development behaviors, encourages certification in specialty, and sets expectation of adherence to evidence-based standards throughout Patient Care Servies
  • Responsible for establishing, enforcing, and monitoring standards for customer service and appropriate and timely follow-up of any customer satisfaction issues.  Ensuring all customers, patients, coworkers, staff, and physicians, have concerns handled in a professional and expeditious manner.  Partners with physician Medical Directors of the Service Line and to review and address issues that concern physicians.
  • Develops plan for marketing, service expansion, projects, etc.  Actively engages Corporate Communications, Human Resources, and physicians with plans for future growth. Maintains high level of knowledge and best practices regarding current assigned areas and Service Line if applicable. 
  • Partners with nursing peers,  Senior MCCG Administration, and Service line Physician leaders to operationalize Strategic plan for assigned areas, Patient Care Services, and the Organization, adjusting for service line growth within specialties.   Reviews and adjusts based on current market demographics to allow for maximum staff productivity, physician satisfaction, patient safety, and growth opportunity.  Remains current with service trends to insure best practice.

Additionally, would be accountable for promoting the Magnet spirit by:  

  • Facilitating Unit Council or other forum that assures participates and involvement to improve patient care, nursing practice and /or work environment.
  • Encourage >75% participation in Nurse Satisfaction and other surveys.
  • Assuring quality, research, professional development, and other magnet information visibly posted, current and discussed at staff meetings.
  • Assures staff representation on appropriate PI projects, committees, and task for
