Senior Underwriters collaborate closely with loan officers, conducting thorough credit analysis for complex loans. They provide valuable insights and recommendations, acting as mentors within the department. Senior Underwriters meticulously prepare and analyze financial information and compose detailed reviews and reports, ensuring accurate collateral and mitigating risks. Continuous development of knowledge in loan policies and market conditions informs their risk assessment. Upholding the bank's integrity, they evaluate financial data, prepare memos, and adhere to regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct credit analysis for new, large, and complex loans as well as renewal requests. This involves evaluating financial data, collateral, and loan documentation.
2. Collaborate with loan officers to assess the financial condition and risk associated with financing requests.
3. Prepare and analyze financial information, such as financial statements and tax returns. This involves utilizing spreadsheets, conducting cash flow analyses, and utilizing industry comparisons to gain a comprehensive understanding of the borrower's financial standing.
4. Compose detailed financial reviews and reports, incorporating industry comparisons, cash flow analyses, and other relevant data to effectively communicate creditworthiness and risks associated with loans.
5. Ensure the availability of up-to-date financial statements for commercial accounts, promptly addressing any discrepancies or missing information. Conducting credit inquiries and research UCC filings to assess creditworthiness and determine appropriate collateral positioning.
6. Verify pledged assets as requested by loans, ensuring their accuracy and relevance in collateral evaluation.
7. Identify and mitigate risks associated with loan applications, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each loan opportunity. Using expertise aids in making informed recommendations and ensuring the bank's loan portfolio remains secure.
8. Preparing comprehensive memos that provide an in-depth analysis of loan requests, financial information, collateral details, and guarantor financials. These memos offer a holistic view of the loan and serve as a reference for decision-making.
9. Compliance with any and all BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions requirements set forth by Bank Policy and Procedure, including but not limited to timely completion of assigned training.
SECONDARY DUTIES
The position performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position is responsible for the supervision of all office employees and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to staff members.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. In the course of performing the duties and responsibilities of this position spends time writing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), sitting, typing on a computer keyboard, and standing, kneeling and reaching.
The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, copy and fax machine, adding machine, computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
These specifications are guidelines based on the minimum experience required to perform the essential functions of the job. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business management; must have taken a minimum of 12 hours college level accounting courses.
• 5 years of Bank Credit Analyst experience.
• Must demonstrate ability to perform complex underwriting tasks.
• Skills should include typing, PC, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Some overtime and weekend work could be involved.
