Job Functions:

Assist Senior Manager of CREATE - ELC with daily leadership of the CREATE Program. Responsible for part of the administrative tasks, including staff and child files, the school readiness process, and some financial aspects of the program.  

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Administration

  1. Use knowledge of best practices and the highest standard of care to plan and administer developmentally appropriate curriculum in the classroom for young children. Use CREATE - ELC policies and the mission, vision, and guiding values of Metropolitan Ministries as a framework to assure curriculum and classroom management delivered with concern for the care, safety, and welfare of our children and their families.
  2. Supervise, coach, and mentor the CREATE–ELC Assistant Teachers.
  3. Assist in the orientation and mentoring of new staff and volunteers. 
  4. Coordinate daily staffing schedules and ensure coverage for all classrooms, including assigning on-call staff and subs for afternoon care and center closing.
  5. Maintain inventory of supplies and complete requisitions of all needed supplies. 
  6. Assist with documentation for the CREATE-ELC Childcare licensing.
  7. Maintain all student files (both hard copy and enrollment in Unity) and staff files, and ensure documentation meets licensing and quality standards.
  8. Coordinates with Volunteer Services to ensure front desk receptionist coverage, serving as a receptionist as needed to fill gaps.  
  9. Trains and supervises volunteers and interns in receptionist duties.
  10. Provide effective communication throughout the CREATE-ELC team and the organization. 

Program Enrichment

  1. Assist in assessment of children through ASQs and Social/Emotional and Behavioral (ASQ-SE) needs and track progress for grant reports, presenting that data as required.
  2. Oversee the Lamplighters Learning Lab.
  3. Provide education and support to parents about the Learning Lab activities and curriculum. 
  4. Collaborate with community partners to provide additional enrichment programs as needed.
  5. Engage and lead volunteers and community partners in offering enrichment programs to children.
  6. Participate in regular team meetings to develop plans for families and monitor progress.  

Other:

  1. Keep confidential records according to the Ethical Boundaries for Those That Serve. Maintain professional boundaries.
  2. Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule to ensure client/program needs are met.
  3. Participate in Metropolitan Ministries holiday efforts, Bridge Builders and other fund-raising events when needed. Provide tours of the facilities and speak on behalf of Metropolitan Ministries as needed.
  4. Support the team and the Senior Manager in other tasks as assigned.
  5. Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals as stated on the KPI and in the annual plan. Attend required staff meetings and on-going trainings. Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a A.A. or A.S. degree in an early childhood education, health or social services related field. Minimum of three years of experience in the fields of social services or education. Director’s credentials preferred. Direct experience working with children and parent
