OverviewThe Software Engineer will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by developing and maintaining software applications for a public health association that specifically serves local, tribal and territorial populations. This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI). WAI is a federally funded CDC Foundation program with the goal of helping the nation’s public health agencies by providing them with the technology and data experts they need to accelerate their information system improvements. Working within The Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD the Software Engineer will have strong programming skills, a solid understanding of software development principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve public health. Ideal candidates should expertise in Umbraco to lead the migration and development of externally facing websites. The successful candidate will be responsible for transitioning existing WordPress websites to Umbraco, ensuring secure data collection, improved site analytics, and an optimized user experience for website owners. This role will involve custom site development, integration of analytics dashboards, and ensuring data security for grant reporting.
The candidate should have strong, demonstrable experience with C#.NET (.NET Core and above), Bootstrap, SQL, Umbraco (preferably with Blazor), JQuery, REST APIs software languages and should be proficient in web development, relational databases, and operating systems, Development tools: GitHub, Visual Studio, Azure Data Studio or SQL Management Studio. The candidate should be knowledgeable of engineering best practices such as experience writing Azure Functions is a plus, Proficiency in using Umbraco to develop custom solutions. experience developing secure, data-driven websites with a focus on analytics and reporting. The Software Engineer will be hired by the CDC Foundation and assigned to The Marion County Public Health Department, Application Development Team. This position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for U.S. based candidates.

Responsibilities

• Website Migration: Transition externally facing websites from WordPress to Umbraco, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience.
• Custom Development: Build and maintain custom controls in Umbraco, enabling secure site traffic data collection and enhanced site management for owners.
• Data Analytics & Reporting: Develop solutions that allow for the secure collection of site traffic data, enabling the production of analytics and dashboards for content management and grant reporting.
• Single Point of Entry: Implement a centralized system for website owners to manage content and access reporting functionalities.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure that all custom solutions meet data security requirements and are suitable for grant reporting. Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications in collaboration with project teams.
