Job Summary: The Senior Manager of Philanthropy and Planned Giving is a key leadership role within Springs Rescue Mission's Development team. This position is responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with foundations, managing grants, and overseeing the organization's gift and estate planning program. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in foundation relations, fundraising, and estate planning, coupled with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward foundation donors, including private, corporate, and community foundations.
- Research prospective foundation donors, identify funding opportunities, and maintain a comprehensive foundation prospect list.
- Manage the full grant lifecycle, including proposal writing, submission, reporting, and assisting with compliance.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals and reports.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with foundation representatives, serving as the primary point of contact for foundation inquiries and communications.
- Oversee the organization's gift and estate planning program, including identifying and cultivating potential planned giving donors, managing the administration of bequests and other planned gifts, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Provide strategic guidance and support to the Development team in leveraging planned giving opportunities and integrating gift and estate planning into overall fundraising efforts.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop materials and messaging related to planned giving and foundation initiatives.
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in foundation relations, grant management, and gift and estate planning, and incorporate new strategies and approaches as appropriate.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in foundation relations, grant writing, and/or fundraising, with a demonstrated track record of securing grants and gifts from foundations.
- Experience in gift planning and estate administration preferred.
- Strong understanding of philanthropic principles, fundraising techniques, and donor relations strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and reports.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.

- Grant Writing: Proficiency in writing compelling grant proposals, grant reports, and other fundraising materials tailored to the requirements of foundation donors.
- Strategic Thinking: Capacity to develop and implement strategic fundraising plans and initiatives to secure funding from foundations and planned giving donors.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple grant proposals, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
- Research: Ability to conduct thorough prospect research to identify new foundation funding opportunities and planned giving prospects.
- Collaboration: Willingness to collaborate with program staff, the Development team, and other departments to gather information, align fundraising efforts with organizational goals, and ensure effective stewardship of donors.
