We are looking for a talented Senior Manager of FP&A to support our hyper growing Marketplace business at Staples. The role will be responsible for managing all financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, KPI’s, and ad hoc financial analytics for the business. A successful candidate will have excellent problem solving and analytical skills, be able to work independently and show initiative, in addition to having the ability to communicate and build relationships across multiple teams.
This role plays a critical role in shaping financial direction and decision-making across the Marketplace business. By providing clear financial visibility and strategic insight, the Senior Manager drives profitability, identifies efficiencies, and supports sustained business growth.
As a finance leader embedded in the Marketplace team, this role helps translate business strategy into financial outcomes. Through data-driven storytelling and rigorous financial planning, the Senior Manager supports prioritization of investments, resource allocation, and long-term performance planning.
What you'll be doing:
- Serve as a key finance business partner and lead an analyst team that provides strong financial analytics and insights to the Staples Marketplace leadership team while helping to influence the overall business strategy and achieve Sales and EBITDA goals for the business.
- Manage daily/weekly/monthly forecasting of Key performance metrics and provide insights into financial performance for weekly business reviews at a Marketplace storefront and product category level.
- Own the overall monthly financial book close process for the Marketplace business unit including consolidation and analysis of full P&L results in collaboration with Accounting, Operations, and other Finance teams.
- Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting process for the Marketplace business P&Ls including Sales, Margin, Marketplace Fees, Logistics, G&A expenses, and EBITDA at a Storefront and Category level.
- Drive insights into item costs at a unit level and improve understanding of SKU level profitability by providing visibility into the various costs per SKU (product, inventory, marketplace fees, logistics, etc.) for all methods of fulfillment.
- Shape strategy to automate data and reporting that will help reduce inaccuracies and increase efficiency.
- Provide leadership with insights into full P&L results versus budget and LY and identify areas for expense savings.
- Manage and mentor a team of financial analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and collaboration.
- Provide direction, coaching, and career development to ensure team members deliver high-quality analytics and insights.
- Allocate resources to meet changing business needs and evolving priorities.
- Leads automation and process improvement efforts across FP&A functions.
- Identifies and implements innovative financial modeling approaches to enhance forecasting accuracy and operational planning.
- Continuously evolves reporting tools and data systems to support a fast-paced digital marketplace environment.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Accounting, Operations, Merchandising, and Leadership to align financial processes and insights.
- Communicates complex financial concepts and trends to non-financial stakeholders through concise, executive-ready presentations.
- Represents Finance in weekly Marketplace business reviews and leadership meetings.
