ABOUT THE ROLE:
We in UP&E Tech are influencers driving change within NBC Universal – not only through our deep alignment with the Brand Development & Retail teams, but also though our effective collaboration across Operations and Technology groups at NBCU.
Although each team member has their own unique role and responsibilities, we work closely together to create a supportive and inclusive environment. This role will effectively “matrix into” many initiatives, providing a more technical / infrastructure architecture perspective, to achieve success.
This role will provide a strategic focus on continuous IT and Business process improvement by providing common tools and processes in such areas as Release Management, Quality Assurance, Customer Support, User Access Reviews. The role will also drive knowledge management initiatives for continuous team learning from our experiences and issue resolution. Technical solutions will include creation of low-code solutions to automate and provide data-driven insights into system and process health.
On a tactical level, this person will also provide technical guidance to app teams, often by performing hands-on diagnostics from various databases, logs, etc., and act as liaison with Engineering teams for resolution, as well as lead environment / application upgrades as required by InfoSec / Governance for Compliance.
This manager will provide formal project management for all of these initiatives.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field; Master’s level degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience with Software Development, Technical Operations or Customer Technical Support, including formal processes for safely promoting code from Dev, through QA, to UAT and Prod
- Skilled in SDLC and project methodologies for software development including testing coordination, test case development and deployment plans
- Skilled Program Manager with proven ability to deliver multiple, concurrent and inter-related initiatives on time and within budget
- Some basic programming; basic SQL is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Industry experience or passion for the Film Business, Retail Sales, Consumer Products Licensing, Theme Parks, Direct to Consumer, Finance, Rights Management, CRM / Salesforce
- Some hands-on system administration and diagnostics (e.g., database-, web-, network-administration)
- Ability to work full time from NBCU offices: LA (preferred), NYC or New Jersey (Englewood Cliffs) with flexibility for occasional extended hours including Friday evening upgrades for high-risk initiatives
- Very strong interpersonal skills: ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, executive team, external partners as needed for collaborative problem solving
- Continuous learner: driven towards elegant solutions balanced by responsiveness needs with ability to quickly learn and apply broad array of technologies to solve real-world problems
- Experience with Process Improvement methodologies: e.g., 6 Sigma, Lean
- Experience with IT Best Practices: e.g., ITIL, ITSM, various formal SDLC methodologies, Project Management
