The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality & regulatory to lead management of change projects (CMPs) such as raw material and manufacturing qualifications to support and grow the business.
- Verify and document product specifications, test methods and control plans for new and existing products.
- Conduct product claims testing and document test results via claim substantiation process in PLM.
- Determine root cause of product quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Interact closely with key internal and external manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality retail products.
- Provide technical input to Business team and technical reports on key activities.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution
- Three (3) years of experience in a private, public, healthcare, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: new product introduction, project engineering, product engineering, product development, and/or research laboratory supporting medical devices or chemistry-based product lines.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science based curriculum
- Three (3) years of product commercialization or project leadership experience in a private, public, healthcare, government or military environment
- Experience with regulated products (e.g., FDA), healthcare-related products, and/or other medical devices
- Strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Skills include: Product and process understanding (e.g., coating & slitting), scale-up/manufacturing experience, and using appropriate tools (e.g., Minitab, statistics)
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
