Zamboni Driver (Full-Time)

Responsible for operating the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine and performing ice maintenance duties in support of scheduled ice arena events. Operates the Zamboni ice edger as needed. Opens and closes the Field House if rink events start or end after normal operating hours. Monitors the ice rink area to ensure patrons stay within established areas and AD directives. Checks locker rooms and other areas for cleanliness and damage. Works on the ice maintenance crew during intercollegiate hockey games to include ice skating between periods to move hockey goals and squeegee around the dasher boards. Cleans Plexiglas of puck marks and replaces panels as needed. Provides minimal ice maintenance by flooding low spots and brightening hockey lines. Observes that the dasher boards are safe and reports any damage. Assists with the installation of the initial ice sheet to include hockey lines and logos. Fills out daily log and safety sheets for the ice rink and records time worked at the end of each shift. Performs minor repairs (if needed) on the Zamboni and reports major problems to the Ice Rink Lead. Performs other duties in the athletic department or contractor area of responsibility commensurate with job skills and abilities. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours work per week. Normal schedule is Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm, subject to change as required for ice programming.
