Summary/Objective
The Director of IT for Application and Data Development will be a highly skilled and experienced lead to our development team. The role involves developing a solid software and data engineering team, implementing best practices for agile based development in DevOps structures. Additionally, the establishment of APIs and data practices to ensure consolidation of data for reporting and analytics for dashboards and self-service modelling.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements a strategic plan for application development and data management that aligns with the organization's objectives and technological roadmap.
- Defines and maintains application development standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Defines and implements standard integration strategy and tools.
- Identifies and evaluates new technologies and tools to enhance the application development process and improve efficiency.
- Lead and manage a team of application developers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging teamwork and continuous learning.
- Oversee resource allocation, workload management, and project assignments within the development team.
- Define and enforce software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and methodologies, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines.
- Define and enforce Dev/Ops process and standards.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze needs, and translate them into technical specifications.
- Monitor and track development projects, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met within budget and schedule.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on application design, architecture, and development best practices.
- Review and approve system designs and code to ensure adherence to architectural standards, security protocols, and performance requirements.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and industry best practices related to application development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, infrastructure teams, and quality assurance teams to deliver integrated and seamless software solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand their business requirements, provide recommendations, and manage expectations.
- Foster effective communication channels to ensure transparency, alignment, and successful project outcomes.
- Define and implement quality assurance processes, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Ensure the development team follows quality assurance standards and best practices to deliver reliable, robust, and secure applications.
- Monitor and track software defects and issues, and collaborate with the team to address them in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including system requirements, design specifications, and user manuals.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate end-users on new or updated software applications.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
