JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications seeks an individual who will supervise a team of eight students creating short-form, primarily vertical video (reels), in connection with the FIFA World Cup. This is a key part of the Curley Center’s partnership with The Associated Press for this event. The successful candidate must spend a couple of weeks in Toronto during the tournament and visit the other students. Assignment will run from approximately March – September.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach a course to help students create and edit short-form video content for a major news organization at a global sporting event
  • Map out strategies for building content tailored to abilities of students
  • Develop training program and provide training sessions to student team and “dry run” exercises
  • Attend meetings with Curley Center director in New York with AP executives to discuss format story plans
  • Direct coverage during the World Cup
  • Help students as editor on final projects after tournament

Requirements:

  • Five years or more of high-level multimedia management experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Extensive newsroom supervisory experience including intern training preferred
  • Understand analytics and visual language of reels
  • Ability to attend frequent meetings in State College in person
