Summary: The Senior Director of Development is a creative leader and an expert relationship builder who embodies the organization’s values of courage, compassion and commitment. This individual is passionate about driving YWCA South Florida’s mission forward by energizing a community of diverse supporters.
This individual oversees the development and execution of innovative strategies to support fund development initiatives, fosters meaningful donor and community relationships, and mobilizes resources and people to advance YWCA’s mission. This role involves engaging with individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government partners to inspire philanthropic investment in the organization’s mission and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Oversees YWCA South Florida’s engagement strategy to fully align and strengthen the agency’s relationships, mission, policy agenda, program investments, and partnerships, and to inform executive leadership about opportunities and developments that would impact the organization.
· Helps establish performance measures, monitors results and helps the VP, chief executive officer, committee(s) and board evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s fund development program.
· Ensures establishment of and compliance with the organization’s fund development and philanthropic principles, policies and procedures.
· Develops a comprehensive fund development plan, to include donor acquisition, prospect, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies to increase annual revenue goals year-over-year and continually analyzes progress towards those goals.
· Supports the development of a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the organization that will enable it to attract, retain and motivate donors and fundraising volunteers.
· Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities including annual giving campaign, major donor cultivation, local and national foundations grant solicitations, corporate giving, in-kind donations, endowment and capital campaigns.
· Plans and oversee execution of all fund development events, activations, and special projects, including annual fundraisers, workshops, volunteer opportunities collaborations, interactives, etc.
· Formulates and maintains VIP cultivation, communications, solicitations, and follow up strategies, to include the Board of Directors and other key legislators and public leaders.
· Solicits contributions and sponsorships on behalf of the organization, including by accompanying volunteers.
· Creates all fundraising materials and development and writing of foundation, corporate and some government grant/proposals and solicitation materials.
· Drives strong YWCA South Florida brand awareness in the South Florida region and targets and cultivates new mission-aligned audiences through the development and execution of public relations and marketing plans and strategies, including website, social media, and program marketing. Develops productive relationships with relevant members of the media.
· Advises and contributes as needed on all public outreach events. Represents YWCA South Florida at public events and in other contexts as needed. Be a willing partner with other staff in all aspects of YWCA South Florida’s mission.
· Leads and supervises the Development Department staff and operations, including prospect and gift management systems and reports; goal setting, strategy and evaluation; sound fiscal operation of development functions (budgets, reporting, monitoring); and personnel management and development.
