Primary Purpose:

Manages and troubleshoots the NS direct-to-locomotive (DTL) truck fleet equipment and the fueling operations.

 

Principal Duties:

  • Manages the contractors who operate DTL fleet and administers the pertinent contracts along with the payment on contracts and the billing of other railroads who subcontract the service from NS.
  • Manages the implementation of a control system to measure and monitor fuel distributed via DTL resources and manages the implementation of capital improvements to the fleet and capital projects to expand and/or improve DTL facilities.
  • Works with the NS Fuel Team and other groups in the company focused on fuel efficiency to plan the most efficient fuel distribution strategies and make changes to the fueling plan as necessary to maximize efficiency.
  • Monitors vendor's compliance with NS operational safety policies including environmental awareness while performing their duties on or around NS.
  • Updates computer records and written records of all DTL fuel equipment and distribution including monitoring DTL contracts.
  • Requires a thorough working knowledge of NS fueling activities, methods, facilities, equipment, and all operating regions to ensure any system deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
