Senior Data Architect Lead

Guardian is seeking a Senior Data Architect Lead to join the team responsible for establishing and maintaining an adaptable data infrastructure to provide access to high quality, consistent data in an easy and convenient manner to all authorized end users and applications of Guardian and its subsidiaries. The Senior Data Architect Lead is responsible for leading the development and delivery of data software products, managing the flow of work using Kanban and / or SAFe Agile methodologies, and designing and implementing data architecture solutions to support business objectives. The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the design, development and implementation of enterprise level data integrations that enable state of the art data access patterns by utilizing a disciplined software development methodology and leading-edge technologies. The candidate will display technical and functional competence in data management standards.
You will
- Responsible for defining and prioritizing the team backlog, identifying and managing stakeholders, and ensuring that the team delivers value to customers.
- Work with Head of Data Architecture to collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and set priorities with the team.
- Lead the implementation of data software development methodologies, including designing and implementing visual workflows, managing work-in-progress limits, and optimizing the flow of work through the system.
- Work with an agile team to deliver and evolve data engineering & services.
- Collaborate with team members, IT colleagues and business partners to ensure functional and business specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable data solution designs.
- Perform data analysis activities including data profiling, creation of data dictionaries, data transformation rules and integration requirements.
- Design, deliver, and document multi-platform architecture with a focus on data architectural standards, growth, performance, flexibility, reliability, scalability, and security.
- Develop, document, and maintain logical and physical data models for supported applications.
- Coordinate across organizations as required to support data integration efforts.
- Support and apply data standardization policies.
- Establish and maintain the quality, supportability, and performance of all processes.
- Play an active role in quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) for data and solution initiatives by reviewing test plan, attending team meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
- Continue to look for innovative and next generation solutions for solving data challenges.
You are
A self-starter who is fueled by collaboration, able to transform conceptual designs into reliable, scalable processes that meet or exceed customer needs. An individual who works closely with IT and business leaders across the enterprise to drive and embed the Enterprise Data Strategy into transformational roadmaps ensuring key principles of Data Governance, Data Management, Data Analytics and Architecture are implemented.
You have
- 15+ Years of IT experience, with 10+ years of experience as a Data Architect, data engineer or other data professional.
- Solid grasp of data architecture principles, patterns, data modeling and data governance.
- Knowledgeable on best practices to managing data in large environments.
- Expert Relational database concepts and experience across multiple database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop, Postgres) environments.
- Expert Proficiency in data modelling tools -- preferably Erwin and strong Logical and Physical Data Modelling experience.
- Hands on experience in data engineering desired with extensive knowledge of SQL and PySpark, on Databricks Platform.
- Hands on experience designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, architecture for large scale data warehousing projects.
- Experience with cloud data services such as Redshift, Relational database services (RDS), Snowflake and Databricks.
- Demonstrated expertise with data sourcing, profiling, data mapping and data analysis.
- Strong SQL, PL/SQL experience and skilled in creating and optimizing queries and data structures.
- Knowledge of ETL concepts, preferably Informatica or Syncsort.
- Experience with one or more SQL-on-Hadoop technology (HIVE, Presto, Spark SQL, Databricks) and Hadoop ecosystem.
- Ability to design cloud and on premise data solutions and provide guidance across storage, big data platform services, Big Data ecosystem, vendor SaaS integrations, RDBMS and NoSQL databases is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and creative problem-solving skills.
