Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Supervisor will oversee and supervise staff in production and operations. Additionally, the Bakery Supervisor will prepare and oversee the production of a wide variety of fresh, high quality and consistent bakery offerings.


Wage Range: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Full-time, Weekend Availability 5am-1:30pm

Requirements

Primary Job Duties:

Leadership

Provides positive and supportive leadership

Ensures that communications are clear, direct and respectful

Communicates information clearly and timely

Accepts and encourages staff feedback

Works with the Bakery Manager to create and oversee workflow and daily productivity of staff

Alerts Bakery Manager of performance issues in a timely manner

Participates in staff evaluations

Provides safety training within department and ensures work is performed according to safety standards

Models’ excellent customer service and ensures that staff do the same

Ensures that each Baker has a current Food Handler Card

Delegate and assign tasks for department personnel as needed and ensure that tasks are completed

Treat everyone with tolerance, consistency and fairness

Attend and participate in all department meetings and training and in storewide meetings and trainings as directed by Bakery Manager

Uphold departmental standards and guidelines based on departmental desired outcomes as established by the Bakery Manager

Monitor the daily flow to ensure productivity and efficiency, adjust when required, and communicate observations and needs to the Baker Manager

Participate in training and ongoing development of bakery staff, providing in-the-moment correction, feedback and coaching through proper documentation as needed

Assist in quarterly inventory

Participate in creating training checklists and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for bakery staff as directed by Bakery Manager

Maintain and uphold departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Lead daily huddles in the absence of Bakery Manager

Involved in interviewing, participates in hiring decisions, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, promotions, retention and dismissal of bakery staff

Other tasks as assigned

Food Production

Prepare bakery items per Production Lists and established recipes

Maintain a fully stocked department

Create and provide clear and precise production lists on a daily/weekly basis and delegate tasks accordingly

Maintain accurate and up to date recipes

Ensure quality control and food safety of all items prepared and offered

Ensure items are ready and available on time for delivery as defined in the departmental standards

Under the direction of the Bakery Manager, participate in menu planning and recipe creation process to provide consistent regular items and interesting new items while considering special dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, and food allergens such as gluten free or net free

Address any equipment and safety issues as they arise and effectively communicate these issues promptly to Bakery Manager

Assist with special orders

Assist in ordering inventory as directed by Bakery Manager

Maintain product rotation, labeling, dating, and storage practices are accurately followed for product quality and safety

Participate in, and help direct daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks, including dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, etc. as needed

Employee Relations

Is fair and even handed with all employees and applies all rules, staffing decisions, approval of time off etc. equitably and without favoritism

Works as part of the team on a daily basis

Is responsible to issues that affect employee satisfaction and /or understanding and respond to the content of the employee issues in a professional manner

Show genuine appreciation to employees

Continually educate employees in product knowledge, environment awareness, safety standards, job skills, and the business of the Co-op

Correct and counsel employees at the moment

Communicates all staffing/scheduling concerns with the Bakery Manager

Qualifications and Skills

Previous prepared foods experience preferred

Proven ability to provide excellent professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times

Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines

Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassions and constant communication are essential
