About the role

Amazon Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) is looking for high-performing individuals to serve as the go-to resource for early stage and highly confidential internal businesses across Amazon. This role will drive cost efficiencies and help internal teams scale quickly. This role requires an expert level practitioner to support a wide variety of functions (Source-to-Pay, negotiation, vendor management, process improvement, supply chain) for small businesses that will need to rapidly scale from small projects to multi-million dollar sourcing opportunities.

This role may be based Arlington (VA) or Seattle (WA).


Key job responsibilities
- Independently balance multiple stakeholders groups and internal customers in confidential environments.

- Establish strong relationships with internal business stakeholders; building an understanding of strategic business direction, requirements, and priorities across multiple Business Units (BUs) and teams.

- Develop sourcing strategies informed by business objectives for newly formed internal teams across multiple categories and industries.

- Partner with business and finance leaders to identify and implement Procure-to-Pay best practices including savings and controllership.

- Work closely with engineers, scientists, technical stakeholders, and leadership to ensure products and services meet the needs of the business.

- Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and bench-marking analysis.

- Managing sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend pattern analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation.

- Vendor Management (ensuring products and services are delivered and paid on time and quality is maintained).

About the team
The GCP Incubator team engages with early stage Amazon teams that do not otherwise have dedicated procurement support. The Incubator focuses on the unique needs of early stage teams to increase cost efficiencies and serve as a value-added accelerator. The team serves as internal consultants and embedded procurement resources across multiple categories and industries.

Basic Qualifications


- 7+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, to include at minimum, 5 years in an indirect procurement function (either at a multinational corporation, with global contracts or a startup Series C – IPO).

- 7+ years of experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (category management, bench-marking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).

- 5+ years of experience with highly technical or highly complex spend categories.

- Experience working with technical stakeholders and business owners.

- Customer-focused, taking the time to understand the needs of the business.

- Passionate self-starter with the highest integrity and ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master’s Degree (MBA/MS)
- Consulting experience (Big 4, or procurement boutique)
- Extensive knowledge of the basic types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms.
- Strong experience assessing risk and concisely explaining complex issues to principal business owners.
- Process improvement or project management expertise (PMP, Lean, etc.)
- Procure-to-pay (P2P) experience; including eProcurement tools (Coupa) and Project Management.
- Experience working in a startup environment to address immediate tactical purchasing needs while building for future-scale.
- Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
