THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to our Data Platform team in Portugal! 

The Data Platform Team is responsible for building and maintaining system components that pave the way for data engineers and analysts to deliver their business objectives. This team leverages open-source software, uses cloud infrastructure and services, and builds software to accomplish its mission.

People on this team have different technical backgrounds, such as software engineering, systems administration (Kubernetes), cloud infrastructure and services, machine learning, data analysis, and data governance.

YOUR IMPACT

• Advocate for improvements in software quality, security, and performance
• Embrace the DataOps mindset to streamline and optimize repetitive tasks 
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts to drive efficiencies for their work
• Provide tooling that improves the product development process and prevents failures
• Ensure that knowledge is shared effectively with internal documentation and personal interaction
• Promote data management best practices and advocating for new data processing tooling adoption

WHO YOU ARE

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• 4+ years of experience as Software Engineer using Python, Java, or similar (Enjoying Python is a bonus)
• Good understanding of relational databases and solid SQL skills (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Familiarity with Kafka, Pulsar, or RabbitMQ (Kafka preferred)
• Proficiency with Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane (Kubernetes experience desired)
• Experience with distributed systems and data-intensive applications
• Knowledge of analytical data warehouses
• Genuine interest in big data applications and their technology trends
• Strong communication skills, including verbal and written in English and Portuguese
