This position is exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position

The Judicial Staff Trainer/Coordinator designs and implements training programs and protocols to ensure proper education of the department’s judicial staff, manages ongoing departmental training, and provides day-to-day supervision and mentoring of judicial support staff.

Position Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of court, legal, or related experience

OR

Combined Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Judicial Assistant or Courtroom Assistant within the Judicial Branch will substitute for the years of experience equal to one (1) year worked will represent two (2) years of required experience

  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education may substitute on a year for year basis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Court policies and procedures, legal terminology, office procedures and practices

  • Legal requirements for processing court documents

  • Issues pertaining to the area of assignment

  • Customer service standards and procedures

Skill in:

  • Verbal and written communication

  • Coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others

  • Creating, composing, and editing written materials

  • The use of personal computers and related software applications

Ability to:

  • Understand and follow instructions quickly and accurately; both oral and written

  • Use data to manage workflow

  • Collaborate with others to create positive working relationships

Essential Job Tasks

  • Provides daily supervision, on-boarding and ongoing oversight, and guidance to judicial support staff

  • Coordinates and ensures judicial support staff coverage in courtrooms to ensure appropriate personnel resources to Judicial Officers

  • Manages the ongoing departmental training, to include annual judicial rotation training

  • Designs and implements training programs and protocols to ensure proper education of the department’s judicial assistants

  • Provides general training, mentoring, and support to judicial staff throughout the year.

  • Monitors the department's judicial staff performance to ensure consistency

  • Acts as a liaison between judicial staff, Court Ad
