The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation forfull-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Pay Range:

$23.09 - $33.55

Position Overview

SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

Performs group psychotherapy mainly using specific therapy techniques (depending on certification) to facilitate non-verbal and verbal communication. Performs therapy and comprehensive clinical assessments using development of individualized treatment plans for maintaining and promoting stabilization in the adult and geriatric psychiatric population. Documents individualized clinical progress towards Allied Clinical Therapy (ACT) discharge goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in creative arts, recreation therapy, and/or allied therapy. Certification in areas of specialization. Art Therapist specialty requires Master's degree in Arts Therapy, licensed in Arts Therapy.

Experience: One-year previous experience in behavioral health sciences.

Other Credentials: AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit. Demonstrates compassion and effective communication skills. Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.

Special Training: Stays current on therapy technology related to area; maintains certification/licensure.

Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Ability to work independently; schedules time efficiently; thinks pro-actively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts allied therapy and psycho-educational groups. Performs group psychotherapy mainly using therapeutic interventions to facilitate non-verbal and verbal communication.
  • Performs therapy and comprehensive clinical assessments using development of individualized treatment plans for maintaining and promoting stabilization in the adult and geriatric psychiatric population.
  • Orders and maintains group supplies within budget parameters, at the discretion of the manager.
  • Completes allied clinical therapy assessment on admitted patients. Documents and maintains accurate records of all services rendered. Participates in the formation of individual treatment plans in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provides education, crisis intervention and support. Communicates, interacts and plans with representatives of other disciplines to coordinate care.
  • Participates in unit-based activities and continuing education activities, performance improvement activities, and in staff meetings, conferences, and agency-sponsored educational sessions.
