SUMMARY: The Machine Operator is responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform basic preventive maintenance on assigned corrugated packaging machines. This person will ensure the efficient running of the product through the machines with quality and safety standards set as a priority. A successful machine operator is reliable and pays attention to detail and safety standards and sets up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. They will also read, interpret and comprehend job tickets and diagrams to produce a quality product. The Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately and follows specifications in a timely fashion. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration and professional communications with co-workers. The goal is to ensure that production procedures will be carried out to maximize efficiency and profits in a safe environment. Experience working with corrugated packaging equipment is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and run machine to maximize production
- Safely operate machine that produces corrugated packaging
- Stop or reset machine when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor
- Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature, dimension, pressure, register settings
- Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material
- Adjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
- Set up machine based on operational proficiency
- Properly and successfully interact with team members
- Following Lock-out/Tag-out procedures is required
- Uses proper PPE
- Meet customers’ requirements for printing, slotting, and scoring.
- Understand Quality Box Inspection Process (aka strike box)
- Ability and knowledge to understand and use printing plates, ink system, and die boards
- Understands all safety procedures and precautions to ensure protections of personnel doing repairs and machine cleaning – including replacing and rotating blankets
- Ensuring production floor, machine area, is clean, accessible, and safe
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to perform the clerical duties
- Ability to apply concepts of high school level math.

- Ability to work in a timely and productive manner, using problem solving techniques, and meet customer needs.
- Pre-employment drug screening required.
