Job Description:
This is a classified Journeyman position that gives guidance and support for an assigned group of Maintenance Repair Helpers. This position performs tasks necessary to maintain specific areas on a campus where assigned and performs duties as determined by the Maintenance Repair Master.
Physical ability to move heavy items and eye-hand coordination necessary to work with tools and equipment; ability to work extended hours and work on weekends as necessary; knowledge in troubleshooting and performing minor repairs to computerized access gates, computerized pay stations and motorized paint machines (manual and self-propelled); ability to walk, stand, lift, bend, push and kneel for extended periods of time.
Job Responsibilities
Performs general parking lot and roadway maintenance, including measuring and marking parking spaces, travel lanes, and crosswalks. Installs, removes, and replaces a variety of signage, including directional, regulatory, and specialty signs. Prepares surfaces for striping using tools such as scrapers, blowers, brooms, shovels, and weed trimmers. Applies paint and markings using striping machines, rollers, stencils, brushes, and spray cans, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university standards. (55%)
Performs routine preventative maintenance on field equipment and signage, ensuring proper function and appearance. Inspects signage and surface markings for visibility, reflectivity, and damage, and makes recommendations for repair or replacement. Supports safety initiatives by identifying and reporting field hazards, damage, or obstructions that may affect pedestrian or vehicle traffic. Maintains small engine equipment (e.g., blowers, generators, weed eaters) and ensures tools are kept clean, functional, and safely stored. (25%)
Assists with the layout and installation of reflective and non-reflective thermoplastic materials used for crosswalks, stop bars, and other traffic control markings. Utilizes bonding chemicals and heat-based application equipment as needed. Performs related duties and supports special projects as assigned, including preparations for events, emergencies, and seasonal campus operations. (15%)

Additional Requirements
Vehicle Operation - This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
Safety and Security Sensitive Job - This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
Emergency Essential Personnel - This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
Physical Required - This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.
