Position Summary:
The Engineering Manager – Deliver Automation Systems will direct all aspects of automation systems requirements for Deliver Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and associated Deliver process engineering equipment. The position will support the Senior Engineering Mgr / global lead for developing automation system plans and programs to be implemented in coordination with regional engineering partners for major distribution center (DC) brownfield and greenfield site projects as well as primary DC equipment upgrades and replacement projects. The engineering manager will support and /or lead automation system project deployments until operational stabilization and provide technical escalation support directly to project teams and/or indirectly to cross functional team members and/or direct reports. The engineering manager will also provide technical direction to junior team members for project guidance and skill and competency development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support DC deliver equipment project automation workstreams from project design through go-live / operational stabilization in coordination with regional segment engineering team and other cross function project team members.
- For approved strategic DC projects, support development of new automation systems and equipment plans and programs.
- Support site WCS system deployments for technical escalations to resolve operational technical events and implementing remediations with equipment integrators and WCS vendors. Partner with site teams for knowledge transfer for technical issues and developing maintenance procedures for future self-sufficiency.
- Support development and deployment global compliance strategies, guidance, and SOPS for addressing government compliance (finance and cGMP) relative to WCS systems (FDA, SOX, other global authorities).
- Partner with J&J technology organizations (ISRM, JJT, TQ) to ensure WCS requirements are represented in deployments and plans (e.g. JJT Server and Network Infrastructure, Cyber Security & SOX, Common Data Layer Digital Strategies).
- Coach and train junior technical team members, cross function team members, and sector regional talent in automation and WCS expertise.
