Environment of Care and Safety Advisor

Plans, implements, directs, and facilitates activities and projects that support regional and system wide efforts to provide a high reliability physical environment for patients and staff while maintaining compliance with all applicable Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Consults with and advises key stakeholders on physical and environmental health compliance interpretations. Partners on design and construction projects, educates and facilitates Environment of Care (EOC), general, occupational and life safety. Actively participates in ongoing readiness activities. Partners with stakeholders and serves as an EOC and general safety subject matter expert for regional leaders and team members.

Must have:

• Emergency Management experience
• Environment of Care Experience
• Experience in participating and preparing for JCAHO Survey

 

• Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
• Requires 3-5 years experience in evaluating or maintaining compliance within the physical environment, preferably within healthcare.
• OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training and certification is provided and required within 6 months of hire.
• Certification in one of the following is required within 2 years of employment:  CLSS-HC, CHSP, CHFM or NFPA.
• Travel to statewide meetings, education/training and other IU Health site evaluations is required.
