Position responsible to assure housekeepers have the supplies they requested by delivering the supplies to the housekeeper’s area/building. Additionally, this position is responsible for the carting of recycling and trash placed outside by the housekeepers to the proper recycling/trash containers/compactors.Position requires the ability to move and arrange furniture from the residential colleges to the large trash containers.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- During summer months this position will be required to deliver clean linen to residential colleges and pick up dirty linen from residential colleges for summer conferences. Additionally, as required due to low attendance, this position can be assigned to continue floor maintenance started by the evening utility housekeeper(s) within buildings managed by the Residential Life Center or assigned to work with other utility housekeepers repairing and replacing furniture.
- Picking up and carting residential college recycling/trash that was removed from the building by the housekeeper to the recycling/trash containers.
- Monitoring and emptying as needed 40 or so outdoor recycling/trash receptacles in residential area on the south side of campus.
- Delivering housekeeping supplies to the residential colleges that housekeepers have requested.
- Arranging outdoor tables/chairs at numerous locations throughout the residential area.
- Daily communication with housekeeping supervisor is crucial to correct any issues concerning an assignment, a building or problem with supplies and equipment.
- Position needs to be able to communicate clearly over walkie-talkies.
- Reports all maintenance issues to management related to golf carts used to transport supplies and recycling/trash items; reports any suspicious person to Campus Police; follows the rules and regulations of WashU; maintain a valid driver’s license at all times in the event you will need to drive the Residential Life Center owned truck.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- All candidates must be able to work their scheduled shift time.
Physical Effort
- An understanding of how to lift properly, bend properly, and support your back muscles when performing this position is paramount.
- This position requires frequent standing and walking.
- Candidate must be physically fit and capable of lifting up to 75 pounds to waist level when needed, and up to 50 pounds to shoulder level or at least to a five foot height frequently throughout a typical day.
Equipment
- Position needs to be able to maintain water-filled batteries for the vehicle (golf cart type) that is used to perform the tasks of this position.
- Position needs to safely drive the required vehicle in accordance of the University rules and regulations.
