The Mercy Hospital for Women's Emergency department is a 9 bed unit that provides urgent assessment and care for women presenting with acute Gynecology/Oncology and Obstetric care issues, and emergency care for newborn babies who were born at the hospital.

The role of the Nurse Manager is to

  • Co-ordinate and manage the day to day operations to ensure high quality clinical practices and patient care in the Emergency Department. This encompasses strategic planning of financial, capital, human and physical resources.

  • The NUM /MUM will act as a role model, providing leadership and practice within the core values of Mercy Health. Overall the NUM/MUM will form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be required to ensure highly responsive and flexible service to internal and external health care providers

  • You must hold dual RN/RM Registration with AHPRA,

  • Extensive experience working in a Maternity/women's health focused Emergency department

  • Management and leadership experience highly desirable

  • Postgraduate Degree (or working towards) in hospital or health services, administration, management or equivalent qualification.

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
