Direct Support Manager (DSM) – Job Posting

The Arc of Howard County is seeking a compassionate and skilled Direct Support Manager (DSM) to oversee a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and ensure the highest quality care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSM will provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback, manage staff schedules and timecards, and ensure the implementation of person-centered plans to support individuals in living independently and engaging with their community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support DSPs in the implementation of person-centered plans and daily tasks

• Develop staff schedules and manage timecards for DSPs using an automated timekeeping system

• Provide coaching, feedback, and conduct performance reviews for DSPs

• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, agency policies, and licensing standards

• Facilitate and lead staff meetings, promoting open communication and teamwork

• Coordinate and provide training for DSPs, ensuring competency-based learning and ongoing professional development

• Promote community inclusion, helping individuals access community resources and activities

• Support individuals in advocating for themselves and achieving personal goals

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure proper health and wellness support for participants

• Manage crisis prevention and intervention strategies as needed, ensuring staff are trained and prepared

• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure confidentiality and ethical practice in all record-keeping

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for both participants and staff

Required Knowledge/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Maryland Driver's License with less than 3 points
• Computer Literacy (Including Microsoft Office Suite and the use of Google Mail and Carematic)
• Ability to successfully complete all DDA, Arc of Howard County and MBON required trainings Ability to manage time effectively.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
