Our Opportunity 

North American Lighting (NAL) is looking for a Design Engineer - I to join our team. The ideal candidate will plan and perform engineering research, design, development, and manufacturing assignments, including responsibility for small lighting projects. They will perform basic CATIA operation necessary to make simple design changes to existing drawings, CAD models. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Your Priorities 

• Management and design of a small lamp (i.e. LPL, SM) which may include lamps that must meet the requirements of more than one market, all within the development timing schedule and budget. 
• Communicate effectively with core team, acting as a technical liaison to assure that NAL manufacturing can process and build production design, and still meet the customer’s requirements. 
• Responsible for meeting design development timing schedule that is established by customer, Program Management, and Design Engineering management. 
• Assure that all requirements of releasing a CAD model and drawings into the customer’s system are achieved. 
• Review all product drawings with engineering supervisor to assure that drawings are complete and design intent is clearly represented prior to going into checking department. Responsible for Design Review meetings scheduled as needed. Engineer must follow NAL Design Standards and incorporate lessons learned on all products developed. 
• Awareness of results of testing performed during design validation process, and implementation of changes resulting from any test failures. 

Requirements

Your Background 

Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field, plus 0 - 2 years of experience in design engineering (including CAD design experience). 

2 + years of experience in design engineering within automotive supplier manufacturing is preferred.
