HVAC Operations Manager

This is a full-time, direct placement role at a local mechanical contractor.

Position Overview:
The HVAC Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of installation and service operations, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This highly visible role requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and strong operational skills to meet company standards, ensure customer satisfaction, and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor installation and service projects from start to finish.
  • Oversee technician dispatch, scheduling, and daily work readiness.
  • Coordinate field manpower, equipment, and materials for efficient project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality, safety, and customer satisfaction standards.
• Financial Oversight
  • Conduct financial reviews, manage job costing, and ensure projects meet profitability targets.
  • Approve and monitor change orders and additional work requests.
  • Manage departmental costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
• Team Leadership
  • Supervise and support installation and service supervisors.
  • Actively participate in hiring, training, and onboarding new team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to field staff.
• Customer & Vendor Relations
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and service resolutions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and customers.
• Process & Efficiency Improvement
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase operational efficiency.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring schedules and budgets are maintained.
  • Optimize inventory, tools, and equipment management to minimize costs.
• Compliance & Safety
  • Enforce company safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct safety training and maintain training records.

Requirements

• Technical certificate, associate degree, or equivalent experience in HVAC or related trades.
• Proven experience in operations management within the trades (HVAC preferred).
• Strong financial acumen with experience in job costing and profitability management.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license (Ohio State Mechanical License preferred).
