Southwest Care Center is currently seeking an experienced full-time Pharmacy Technician. This position is located at our Harkle Clinic in Santa Fe, NM.
Position Details:
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician participates in all aspects of prescription filling and performs clerical duties to maintain pharmacy standards and comply with legal requirements, as outlined by the Board of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician interacts with patients, providing excellent customer service and coordinating safe and effective medication practices. They will model professionalism, meet performance expectations, demonstrate the organization’s values, and most importantly deliver patient-focused services. This role serves as a patient advocate using good judgment, initiative, critical thinking, and effective communication at all times.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
Maintain and update patient profiles and prescription files.
Enter prescriptions into electronic system efficiently and accurately.
Fill prescriptions and coordinate auto refill for applicable patients.
Prepare packages for shipping and delivery.
File prescriptions and paperwork.
Comply with 340B, Aid & Comfort, Board of Pharmacy, and DEA requirements.
Answer pharmacy phone calls, return calls to patients, and manage the voicemail system.
Communicate with insurance companies/manufacturers to resolve coverage issues, initiate prior authorization process, and activate manufacturer co-pay cards.
Document in appropriate databases.
Run register, coordinate billing, and balance cash at end of day.
Activate patient assistance and copay assistance cards.
Reorder and restock drugs and related materials necessary to operate the pharmacy, and verify receipt against invoices.
Run and interpret pharmacy reports.
Process returns to inventory and the distributor and return expired drugs to the reverse distributor.
