The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, ground and communications, imagery programs, systems engineering and launch.
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to be part of the SIGINT Ground Systems Program Office within the National Systems Group Ground and Communications Division. In this position, you will be contributing to the development of the US Government’s next-generation SIGINT Ground systems architecture, more specifically assessing SIGINT processing architectures to facilitate the evolution of SIGINT ground capabilities to meet the needs of the future as well as contributing to the effort of identifying solutions for effectively processing challenging targets in a rapidly evolving environment.
This position is located in Chantilly, VA and will require 100% onsite work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide expertise and coordinate teams comprised of diversely skilled engineers servicing SIGINT processing programs.
- Keep abreast of the most current SIGINT signal processing and AI/ML algorithms currently worked on within Aerospace Engineering Matrix Organization
- Engage in collaboration with relevant program offices to discover the technologies they are advancing and monitor those of significance to the program office.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers to help facilitate improvements for the IC mission.
- Collaborate with an agile team of acquisition professionals and industry software developers to rapidly field new software capabilities in a dynamic mission environment.
- Proactively identify new technologies and commercially available capabilities for integration into the framework
- Coordinate with enterprise stakeholders to ensure that user needs are properly understood and satisfied.
- Partner with the US Government in formulating acquisition strategies for achieving its architectural vision and in pre-solicitation efforts and source selections to help the government achieve best-value solutions from industry.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or related field
- 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional experience.
- Experience in one of more of the following domains:
- mission processing systems for space systems,
- constellation tasking and optimization,
- geospatial intelligence (GEOINT),
- signal intelligence (SIGINT),
- US Government acquisitions
- systems engineering or software development.
- Ability to travel as necessary and flex work schedule to accommodate deadlines to support job requirements.
- This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science/engineering or a related engineering or scientific field
- Strong background in signal processing and RF communications
- Experience with agile-based software development at scale, agile testing with IV&V for federal contracts, commercial cloud environment, and DevOps pipeline implementation
- Experience with frequent operational deployments to both ground and on-orbit assets
- Knowledge or experience with either proliferated or hybrid satellite architectures.
- Knowledge or experience with Enterprise level testing and integration of complex systems
- Expertise in RF remote sensing payloads and systems
- Strong written and oral communication skills
