IT Specialist (DATAMGT)

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. For the GS-13, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Leading enterprise data engineering modernization across cloud, hybrid, multi-cloud, or large-scale data environments. AND - Establishing architecture standards and reusable patterns for data integration, governance, metadata, virtualization, data mesh, automation, and cloud migration. AND - Advising technical teams, leaders, and stakeholders on platform strategy, scalable pipelines, APIs, data services, ETL/ELT, data quality, security, AI-ready data, and AWS or Azure implementation. For the GS-12, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Independently developing and optimizing data engineering solutions for large or complex datasets, including ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, and cloud-based workflows AND - Integrating data from multiple sources using modern tools such as scripting languages, query languages, APIs, AWS, Azure, NoSQL, or distributed processing technologies. AND - Implementing data quality, lineage, metadata, security, and governance controls to support analytics, dashboards, automation, AI/ML use cases, and reliable operations. For the GS-11, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Developing and maintaining data pipelines that extract, transform, load, validate, or move data across systems AND - Using modern data engineering tools such as scripting languages, query languages, APIs, Jupyter or cloud-based notebook environments, version control, and cloud services to clean, transform, validate, and automate data workflows. AND - Supporting ETL/ELT processes, APIs, dashboards, reporting, documentation, quality checks, and preparation of datasets for analytics or AI/ML use cases In addition to meeting specialized experience, at the GS-12 and GS-13 level, individuals must have experience demonstrating each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Decision Making, Information Management, Interpersonal Skills, Oral Communication, Problem Solving, Teamwork, and Technical Competence.
