Role profile:

As a Senior Software Engineer in Index Technology, you will be responsible for assisting with building complex financial market indices in a SQL heavy environment, while helping develop applications and processes designed to automate future builds. Every day, you will collaborate with business partners to analyze new requirements and translate those requirements into technical solutions. Although much of this work is currently handled on SQL Server, candidates should look to go beyond SQL, integrating with and expanding our existing Index Build Tool platform, built on Angular and C#. That being said, we fully support serverless solutions on AWS, and are always willing to apply the right technology to best solve any challenge! This role should take a keen interest in understanding the business of indices – how and why they are built – and should possess curiosity and be business savvy.

• Be responsible for analyzing new index and change requests, and helping to launch them on our platform(s)
• Be able to independently stay on task, meeting business timelines and client expectations
• Be a strong collaborator, both with the business and technical peers
• Have an eye for innovation, always thinking of better ways to accomplish tasks
• Be willing to check their own work before sending to QA
• Come from a technically varied background, demonstrating the use of multiple technologies to solve business problems

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Learning the complex business of financial market indices
• Staying diligent to ensure high quality output on products tracking billions of dollars daily
• Supporting the business delivery pipeline and reducing time-to-market for index requests
• Writing and reviewing SQL scripts
• Taking the initiative on automation opportunities to move away from SQL scripts
• Designing and proposing processes and code-based integrations to improve build quality

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Strong SQL development skills – able to parse complex stored procedures, and write your own
• Strong data analysis skills – ability to parse large data sets for anomalies
• Proven eye for detail and quality
• Desire to innovate beyond current methodologies
• Diverse programming background – experience that goes beyond SQL. C# and Angular are a plus
• Understanding of SDLC processes, including deployment pipelines
• Understanding of cloud technologies is a plus (we use AWS and Azure)
• Desire to learn
• Excellent communication skills
