The Position
The Head of US Portfolio Strategy, Pipeline and Business Development and Licensing (BDL) is responsible for and leads a team focused on the end-to-end portfolio strategy including early product management, opportunity and drug identification, commercialization strategy, pipeline strategy and product transition.
Establish the US portfolio strategy and business plan to drive the growth of the Novo Nordisk cardiometabolic portfolio which includes diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and future therapeutic areas/disease states. In collaboration with global priorities, steer the global cardiometabolic portfolio strategy to implement an integrated end to end long-term plan to enhance patient therapy outcomes, maximize portfolio revenue, grow market share, and meet business profitability goals.
Facilitate the development of a customer centric, enterprise-wide strategy for new therapy areas, including market development and go-to-market considerations, pipeline products development focusing on a time horizon of ~3+ years from commercialization and partner with Global on BD&L opportunities relevant to the US business. Lead and collaborate across relevant BD&L committees to create the strategic rationale and go, no-go decision-making framework for future therapeutic assets.
Effectively manage the commercial lifecycle of early stage and in line products including establishing the "one impact planning" framework across the portfolio. Support the transition to internal stakeholders to ensure operationalization of the commercialization of new assets and maximization of US entry in those new therapeutic areas.
Relationships
Reports to SVP, Commercial Strategy & Marketing. Head of US Portfolio Strategy, Pipeline and Business Development and Licensing (BDL) is the primary interface with the therapeutic area Marketing Leads to set the “one impact planning” framework for the portfolio priorities and best practices. Member of US cardiometabolic marketing leadership team, and represents the portfolio plans in management discussions. Interacts and aligns with therapeutic, brand strategy and cross-functionals leads within the region and globally.
Interacts with global and home office cross-functional areas, including key stakeholders in Global Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Market Value and Access. In addition, serves as a key contact and partner to global colleagues and to a host of vendors/agencies.
Represents the US portfolio position to facilitate decision making on US and global BD&L committees.
Essential Functions
- Integrated Portfolio Strategy:
- Establishes the LCM plan and US cardiometabolic portfolio strategy for in line portfolio assets including leading the agile “one impact planning” process
- Recommend strategic trade-offs on resource allocation and budgeting across portfolio
- Enhance integration, alignment, and collaboration across functions to maximize portfolio synergy and patient impact. Define key priorities across the portfolio
- Portfolio & Pipeline Management:
- Effectively manage the life cycle of each product in the portfolio
- Establish the overarching lifecycle management and portfolio strategy
- Operate as the central hub for lifecycle management and implementation
- US/Global Enterprise Strategy:
- Align US and Global strategic priorities
- Own commercial input for Business Development and Licensing committees
