Introduction: Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Physician Assistants to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, New England, Newport, Rhode Island. Minimum Qualifications:
Contractor personnel shall perform a full range of duties consistent with their labor category, education, training, experience, clinical privileges (as applicable), and assigned position. General duties that apply to all personnel or across certain labor categories are given below.
Hospital: Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command
Location: United States, New England, Newport, Rhode Island
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: Bachelor's degree
- Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Possess current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Certification: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA)
- Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions
- Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant as required in the TO

- Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services
- Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities as requested by the Government
- Practice aseptic techniques as necessary. Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection
- Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures
- Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify supervisor, director, or other designated government person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage
- Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced risk manner
- Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed
- Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting
- Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF
- Maintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice
- Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth. Basic Life Support (BLS) and other trainings in support of professional licensure or credentials may not be obtained at the MTF by a HCW during working hours
