Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Manager of our Surgical Services department.  Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives. Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in working cooperatively with pre-op, post-op and surgical standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

  • Organizes, directs, assesses, plans, evaluates, assists in the delivery of surgical services nursing care / services to inpatients and same day surgery patients in the Perioperative Area and in compliance with the Standards of Practice of the American Operating Room Nurse Association and the American Association of Post-Anesthesia Standards and AABB Standards.
  • Works in a leadership role by assisting with staffing, scheduling, patient flow, unit management, performance improvement opportunities, projects, education and handles day-to-day family or patient issues as they arise.

  • Incumbent is well versed in clinical knowledge of Surgical Services, demonstrates clear and professional communication, works as a collaborative teammate and leader who takes the initiative to successfully address problems and improve departmental efficiencies.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree (BSN)

Active RN license in state of practice

5 years’ experience as a clinical nurse

5 years’ experience charge nurse / team lead

Critical care experience

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

 

Preferred:

5 years' of pediatric and/or orthopedic experience

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
