We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Teams fundamentals organization and help drive multiple initiatives to make Teams best in class at reliability and resiliency. This includes innovating on how we intelligently use telemetry to measure reliability for our different audiences, how we use customer feedback, how we create diagnostics and analytics at scale to enable faster detection and debugging, how we collaborate with other teams to achieve end-end engineering excellence, and how we build resilient architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements for enhancing the reliability and resiliency of Microsoft Teams.
  • Lead the identification of dependencies and contribute to the development of design documents aimed at improving the reliability and performance of Teams.
  • Develop, optimize, and debug code to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and maintainability of Teams, ensuring a high return on investment.
  • Utilize experience in product features to partner with project managers and drive project plans, release plans, and work items related to reliability initiatives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in reliability engineering to continuously improve the availability, efficiency, and performance of Microsoft Teams, while ensuring consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional efforts to understand and implement user requirements.

Other Requirements:


This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,or Python
  • Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and debug complex systems and design solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration platforms is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
