The Pharmacy Leader (PL) is accountable for leading, managing and advancing people, processes and / or programs which assist in the provision of pharmaceutical care under the supervision & direction of the Regional Pharmacy Director to support Pharmacy business lines.

Responsible for providing leadership, oversight, direction, alignment, and standardization for Pharmacy business lines. Implements strategic and operational initiatives including new services/programs, revenue enhancement, expense reduction, managed care utilization systems, and strategies. Responsible for ensuring performance excellence in terms of quality, safety, service, affordability, and technology. Oversees drug utilization management efforts; manages the pharmaceutical supply chain; and is responsible for the financial operations.

POSITION PURPOSE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership - Provides leadership & retains accountability for delegation, choices, decisions, and outcomes. Directs alignment and standardization for Pharmacy business lines to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care in accordance with professional standards, regulatory and licensing agency policies, and federal and state laws related to the practice of Pharmacy. Acts independently and appropriately within scope of knowledge and experience in practice area. Exhibits agility and willingness to take on new and additional responsibilities. Embraces new ideas and cultural differences while managing competing priorities.

Goals - Partners with Pharmacy and Finance leaders to develop strategy, goals, objectives, and operational standards to ensure services and priority alignment. Responsible for the successful achievement of strategic objectives and goals and optimizing resources to achieve the desired outcomes.

Quality and Compliance - Creates and promotes a culture based on the principles of continuous quality improvement. Collaborates with Pharmacy colleagues to establish standards. Monitors quality assurance activities and issues. Identifies opportunities and creates corrective action plans to improve operational effectiveness.

Finance - Ensures appropriate operational and capital budgets and forecasts are prepared for Pharmacy related services. Influences effective, judicious, and financially responsible use of resources. Collaborates in identifying analytics and metrics to demonstrate baseline and performance improvement targets. Develops financial analytical tools to support decision-making and maintains financial and purchasing databases. Monitors budgets, key performance indicators (KPIs), drives tactics, provides reports, analyzes variances, and implements actions plans.  

Ensures that accounts payable function is accurate and in compliance with the most recent GAAP guidelines.Manages the billing of patient and non-patient revenue, assuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality. Responsible for assuring that charge processes are accurate and timely.

Pharmacy Operations – Initiates and supports business development and revenue integrity activities. Collaborates with Pharmacy leaders to prepare feasibility studies relative to new/expanded programs and services, monitors the financial performance of existing programs. Assists Pharmacy leaders in interpreting financial policies and integrating into department operations as appropriate. Ensures compliance with the 340B program regulations and recommends opportunities. Optimally utilizes and integrates technology and centralized support services.
