Tajikistan is a low-income country that has experienced strong growth in recent years, but which relies heavily on remittances and remains vulnerable to regional geopolitical risks. A twenty-two-month Policy Consultation Instrument was approved in February 2024 to anchor economic policies and support implementation of key structural reforms. Key policy areas under the program include improving revenue mobilization; modernizing the monetary, exchange rate and financial policy frameworks; reforming state-owned enterprises; and improving governance. He/she will act as a desk, covering all aspects of country work. The work will include the preparation and drafting of policy notes, memos, and staff reports; undertaking economic analyses; and working effectively within a large team. She/he is also expected to play a key role in the coordination of work on the macroeconomic framework and TA coordination and contribute to the regional analytical agenda for the Caucasus and Central Asia. In addition, the selected candidate will be asked to contribute to the work of the department, including conducting research and reviewing and commenting on departmental and Fund papers.

Division F covers the following countries: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate must have a strong background in macroeconomics, preferably with excellent knowledge of fiscal policy and debt issues. The selected candidate must have strong data management skills and be generally familiar with Fund policies and practices.
