Job Description

**Maintenance Specialist IA are listed below**

Serves as a subject matter expert in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of various electronic systems that ensure the safety and security of individuals and facilities; facilitates the integration of systems to maximize their effectiveness for business needs; determines electronic system specifications and sequencing needs when designing and/or integrating systems; researches, recommends and implements electronic system upgrades and solutions that meet Federal, State and local security and safety requirements; provides input on capital and on-going security operating budget; develops metrics and testing to gauge effectiveness of security program and systems; coordinates and conducts regular testing of physical security hardware and systems; reviews security assessments of facilities to identify areas of vulnerability and coordinates corrective actions for identified security risks; provides routine briefings on matters relating to overall physical security.

Performs various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation; uses a variety of small and large tools and operates a variety of light and medium duty equipment and attachments; ensures that card readers allow access to authorized personnel only; troubleshoots and repairs card reader units and programming; tests and maintains smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, water flow, and tamper switches, including the address system of detectors/sprinkler monitor devices; implements tone and voice announcement mechanisms to ensure open communication in the case of an emergency; determines and maximizes the coverage area of emergency duress systems; modifies emergency duress systems to provide additional protection and security for employees and visitors.

Installs, maintains, and/or repairs the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) for the locking systems within the facility to maintain a secure environment; troubleshoots system problems, designs, and reprograms the PLC to address changing facility needs; conducts a needs assessments to ensure an adequate platform to run the PLC; determines and documents the frequency of lock operation for every lock to determine proper maintenance schedules.

Reviews contractor specifications to ensure the integrity of the systems; oversees and/or participates in the installation of new electronic systems; escorts vendors performing contracted services within secure areas; reviews work and provides guidance regarding quality expectations and deficiencies to ensure contractors accomplish bid specifications; assists with review of new and remodel construction documents, submittals, specifications integration, installation, approval and accreditation of facilities, equipment, and security documentation.

Performs system back-ups to maintain a recorded history of entrance to the facility, lock operation, closed circuit television to comply with policies and procedures; archives and retrieves back-ups; creates electronic system reports for maintenance requirements; maintains system inspection documentation; uses computer aided design (CAD) to document electronic systems; maintains documentation of all electronic system plans/changes; and maintains an adequate inventory of parts.
