Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
The Milford Road Alliance is looking for a Site Engineer to join their team in Te Anau, supporting the delivery of maintenance, renewals and capital projects along one of New Zealand’s most iconic and technically challenging transport corridors.
This is an opportunity to step into a varied role where no two days look the same. You’ll work across project planning, site delivery, commercial management and stakeholder engagement, while being supported by an experienced team of engineers and operational leaders.
We're looking for an engineer with some industry experience who's ready to take the next step. Whether you're an established Site Engineer or an Engineer looking to broaden your project delivery experience, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact while continuing to grow your career.
From alpine passes and remote construction sites to resilience and infrastructure projects, you'll be involved in work that's both technically rewarding and highly visible.
And then there's Te Anau. Trade long commutes for world-class hiking, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, and Fiordland National Park right on your doorstep. It's a unique opportunity to build your career without compromising on lifestyle.
The key responsibilities in this role include:
Assist with planning and coordinating daily work to support site crews
Monitor site progress and track work against programme timelines
Participate in site inspections and help identify risks and improvements
Assist with cost tracking, job costing, and quantifying completed work
Support the preparation of progress claims and reporting
Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and site crews
Gain exposure to site supervision, resource planning, and contract delivery
Promote safe work practices and personal accountability on site
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a combination of technical capability, practical thinking and a willingness to get involved on site.
You’ll ideally bring:
A Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering
2+ years' experience in civil construction, infrastructure, roading or maintenance environments
Experience working across project delivery, site coordination or construction support activities
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
The ability to build effective working relationships across field and office-based teams
Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costing or contract administration
A full New Zealand Driver Licence
A commitment to safety, quality and delivering great outcomes
