Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a Student Assistant to support research efforts with basic statistical analysis under the direction of a biostatistician and research supervisor. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn statistical software tools such as SAS, R, or Python. They Student should seek to develop foundational skills in data management, statistical analysis, and related best practices. A high level of attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines effectively. Prior experience supporting a scientific or technical research study is preferred.

Hourly: $17.60-$29.00

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Willingness to learn statistics
  • Willingness to learn study design
  • Willingness to learn statistical software application, notably R, Python
  • Ability to use standard software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to communicate relevant information to the overseeing statistician and PI
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members and faculty

Preferred:

  • Enrollment in bachelor’s program in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or a related field
